Directions to Evanston

From O'Hare (~15 mi):
Take the main road away from the airport and exit onto I-294 North (towards Wisconsin). Take the Dempster St. Eastbound exit. At the first stoplight, turn Left onto Potter Road. Take Potter all the way down until you hit Golf Road. Turn right onto Golf Road. Take Golf Road east for several miles. It will become Emerson St. Turn left onto Sheridan Road. Alice Millar is at the intersection of Sheridan Rd. and Chicago Ave.

From Midway (~26 mi):
Take Cicero Ave north to I-55 East and take Lake Shore Drive north until it ends. Go straight onto Hollywood. Take a right onto Broadway. Broadway will turn into Sheridan Road. In Evanston, go straight onto South Blvd. Turn right onto Chicago Ave. Take Chicago Ave. north until it becomes Sheridan Road. Alice Millar will be on your right.

Parking:
There is street parking nearby. You can also park in the Northwestern University Bursar's Office parking lot at 619 Clark (on Clark St. just west of Chicago Ave.) There is also another Northwestern University parking lot on Campus Drive.

On the El (Purple Line):
Take the Purple Line up to Evanston, and either
(a) Get off at the Davis El Stop. Take Church St. east and then walk North on Chicago Ave. You'll see Alice Millar on the right side of the street.
(b) Get off at the Foster El Stop. Take Foster St. east until you get to Sheridan Rd. Go south on Sheridan, and you'll see Alice Millar across the street from the Arch.

Directions to the Newberry Library

Directions will be available at the ceremony.

Driving:
From Alice Millar, take Chicago Ave. south. Go east on South Blvd. and onto Sheridan Rd. Go South on Sheridan Rd. and go straight onto Broadway (instead of following the curve of Sheridan). Turn left onto Hollywood Ave. which will become Lake Shore Drive. Exit Lake Shore Drive at North/LaSalle Drive. Follow LaSalle until Clark, turning left onto Clark. The Library will be on your left on Walton.

Parking:
There is street parking available in the neighborhood. There is also a nearby parking garage at Chestnut and Clark (north of the library) with discounted rates for Newberry guests.

On the El (Purple Line to the Red Line):
Take the Purple Line in Evanston to Howard (end of the line). Transfer to the Red Line at Howard. Get off at the Clark/Division El Stop. Walk south on Clark until you get to Walton. The Newberry Library will on your left.
